Our Breeding Objectives

The primary goal of the breeding programme is to develop new apple and pear varieties that meet consumer demand for novel, fresh, great tasting, healthy and convenient fruit varieties and products.

Prevar™ and Plant & Food Research are working on apples and pears that could be described in consumer terms as:

• A better version of my familiar apple or pear
• A new and better distinctive variety that replaces my familiar apple or pear
• A novel variety or format that changes the way I think about an apple or pear
